I offer individual therapy for adults ages 18 and over who reside in California.
I welcome clients from all walks of life. I am comfortable incorporating a spiritual perspective into treatment if and when it resonates with my client’s existing belief system and addresses their needs.
My areas of specialty include eating disorders, relational trauma, chronic illness, depression, anxiety, life transitions, and grief. If you feel called to work with me but don’t see your primary concern listed, I still encourage you to reach out for a free consultation to see if we’re a good fit.
As someone with lived experience of chronic illness, I understand and can help you navigate the very real impact it has on physical, emotional, and mental health.
All sessions are virtual. Though we won’t share the same physical space, we will establish a calm, safe, consistent connection that allows for all the benefits of in-person sessions. I believe deeply in the healing benefits of therapy and the importance of the therapeutic relationship.
I take an integrative approach to therapy by combining evidence-based interventions with mindfulness and somatic techniques, “somatic” meaning ‘of the body’. Sessions may feel a bit different than straight talk therapy you’ve had before and I believe that’s a good thing. In our conversations I will guide you to tap into the intuitive intelligence of the body by noticing its communications, which can manifest as changes in breath, tactile sensations, images, or simply enhanced awareness of a body part. We integrate talk therapy to identify the physical, intuitive, and rational information that surfaces. With new awareness and embodiment, you are free to process and release unconscious behaviors and thought patterns and begin making different choices that align with your values. The trust and connection in our therapeutic relationship will create a foundation of safety so that you can explore areas that need attention from a place of groundedness and openness.
I am trained in EMDR through the EMDR Institute. EMDR is a well-researched, evidence-based treatment for many conditions, including phobias, PTSD, trauma, eating disorders, depression, anxiety, panic disorders, and more. There are 8 phases of treatment, and sessions are more structured than a psychotherapy session. EMDR uses bilateral stimulation, via right-to-left eye movements or tapping, to activate the opposite sides of the brain. This allows for the releasing of emotional experiences and memories that have become “trapped”. By removing blockages in the neuro-physiological system, the brain creates new neural pathways, changing your relationship to traumatic memories or experiences. This creates space and facilitates shifts that have a broad impact, allowing you to heal from trauma and re-engage with your life, your emotions, and your relationships in a way that may not have felt possible before.
Please get in touch to discuss my fees. I accept payment via debit or credit card through a secure online system.
To protect your privacy and ensure continued quality of care, I am a private pay therapist and am not in network with insurance. I can provide a monthly superbill for you to submit to your insurance. Depending on your insurance plan, you may be able to receive partial reimbursement for sessions.
